Focus: themes and issues
The plan is to ask a group of people (matching the description of my target audience) a range of questions about my current Social realism media production. As i am in the early stages of editing i hope to find small areas which i can improve on as well as find out the the group liked about it. The main focus will be around the themes and issues of the productions, meaning i will be asking questions relating current issues in society, stereotypes, representations, mood, tone and atmosphere. As well as this i plan to ask follow up questions, leading the group on so i can find out more information about what i need to improve on and what they like. This keeps to attracting my audience as well as addressing them. An example of a question i plan on asking is:
“The issues are gender, isolation, class and status etc...what does this tell you about the overall production as well as the characters involved?”
“What kind of tone/ mood do you think the production lets out, how does it make you feel and why?”
I plan to show my production to a group age specific people in a small room, i will then show them the production twice and then ask questions. An alternative option would be to transfer the current edit to a usb stick and display it on a larger screen. This way i can use a bigger room more private room so the recording is not interrupted. The members of the group will be sat in a circle around the screen and will have a piece of paper for them to make notes. If i can locate a bright enough room, one that is both big and away from noise i will use a camera to record the responses from the group. If i have to show them in a more restricted area then i will use a sound recorder. At the end of each i will upload either the footage or sound to my blog along with my own notes including an evaluation about what was said and my plan to improve my production.
In future i will gather the group again to ask further questions about titles and such other topics
