I posted the link to my form on all of the social media I had at the time, I received a total of eleven responses. Here is a link to a spreadsheet that displays all of the responses I have received:
DataBase
To summarise, I have received 11 responses, 7 were female and 4 were male. The age boundaries are very average. 9 of the 11 chose the 15-18 age bracket whilst only 1 chose the 19-24 and another chose over 15. Unfortunately all ethnicity types that were given were British. Next was the question asking how many films they have watched in the past month. My predictions were completely wrong about this question. I expected all answers to be low however three people stated that they have seen over 10 films. Only 2 people selected 0-2 and the majority chose the 3-5 bracket. the final 2 people said that they have seen 6-8 films. i found these results very surprising. following with the theme of my predictions being wrong the next question (how do you like to watch films) got a lot of different answers to what i was expecting. For starters I expected more people to watch films online however 8/11 said that they prefer to watch films in the cinema. 4 stated that they enjoy watching them on the TV, 2 like watching films on DVD and finally only 3 people mentioned online viewing (note; this question allowed the user to make more than one decision). My next question to the audience was 'what is your favourite film genre' . this question allowed the user to make multiple choices. The genre which most people enjoyed was 'comedy' with 8 people answering with this i was expecting horror to have the highest however this was not the case. Comedy received 72.7% of the votes. The second most popular Genre was Action. 6 people chose this option meaning that it received 54.5% vote. close behind was both Crime and Adventure. In fourth position was Musical, Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror. as i said before i did not expect horror to receive such a low result., Historic and war films only got two votes each and finally romance, social realism and 'other' were given one vote each. Another outcome which i did not expect was the 'Western' genre did not receive any results at all. Next I listed 9 social realism films (and a choice of other and none) to see which one have been seen the most. One of my predictions was right, that being the film 'Trainspotting' receiving on of the highest amount of votes. in fact 'Fish Tank' also received the exact same amount of votes which was something that i did not predict. A large amount of users stated that there was a distinct lack or social realism films however the results were a lot different for the final question. the question was ' do you think that social realism films are accessible?' 54.5% of users said that they couldn't say. this matched my predictions however 36.4% said yes. this was not in my prediction but was a pleasant surprise.
